Red Rain by R.L. Stine, not enjoying it as much as I had hoped.
My dear, the truth is simple. We're all mad here.

Yeah, I kind of was waiting for an excuse to read more stuff written by him, then I saw this book and the reasonable price, and I thought "oh, fuck it, I'm going to buy it!". I'm loving it so far!

Also, this is the first page: Image

I'm currently reading a novel that my mother had wanted me to read called Shanghai Girls. It follows two sisters in the year 1937 as their world around them crumbles and they are forced to leave their country that is under attack. It's really depressing but I am trucking through it. It's a pretty quick read but because it's so sad I can only read a few pages at a time. Then there's the sequel...

I'm currently reading "The Disappearance" by Bentley Little. It's my first novel by Little. He's a supposed horror genius, but I think I picked up the wrong book by him. This one is decent, but not special by any means. :/

I hate being stuck in a depressing book. It's like "New Moon"; I wanted to say the whole time "JUST OFF YOURSELF ALREADY!!!" If I were Edward, I don't think I'd be flattered by Bella's extreme heartbreak, I think I'd be creeped out.

Now I'm reading "The Ritual" by Adam Nevill. "The Amityville Horror", which I finished a few days ago, wasn't so bad, but the author overused the exclamation point.
HAH. I haven't read the Twilight novels but I am sure I would feel the same way. I'm not one for romance but I do enjoy a cheezy romance novel now and then. I started one that my BF got me with a some sort of cowboy guy and a woman on the cover. I don't even remember what it's called "Joe's Child" or something like that. I'll get around to finishing it later...probably.

There are so many depressing and disturbing scenes in the Shanghai Girls book. I feel like my mother recommended it to me because it's about two sisters going through trials and looking after each other. The older one is tall and awkward...OTL I might be reading too much into it, though. ^^;

There's also a sequel to it, I forget what it's called. In my stack of reading I have another book that my mom wanted me to read call "Heaven is for Real". My mom and sister really liked reading near-death encounters so they pass them on to me to check out. My favorite I had read like that was "Embraced by the Light". It was pretty fantastic if you believe in that sort of thing. ;)

After that I have "The Gryphon Mage" trilogy that I may put on hold so I can read Sherlock Holmes collection. ^^;

So I finally Finished Shanghai Girls. BF got me a small stack of romance novels for Valentine's Day so before I move on to the sequel, I am taking a break to read something more light-hearted.

The book was good and well written but so depressing. >_<
