I'd have to say shounen. I'll read/watch things from any genre, but for some reason the shounen genre has my heart. I would be lying if I said I wasn't picky about which series I'll get interested in though. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but there has to be a certain something to the series. I want it to be action-based but still have significant character development, but leaves enough about the characters and their relationships up to the imagination.

I also love stories based in worlds I don't exist in - I know enough about the modern human world already, show me something new! So that would be fantasy :)

I am a huge fan of shounen ai/slash. But I honestly don't read much of anything made specifically for the genre. I stopped trying to find good ones a long time ago, when everything I read was either 1.) women in the form of males, 2.) all guys wanting one single guy, 3.) a poorly written story for the sake of porn, or 4.) a story with great potential if they stopped focusing so much on the porn. I could care less about the sexual aspect of the relationship - I care for the character and relationship development with a great storyline to go along with it.

I'll read some shoujo manga, but it really can't be too dramatic. I know it's supposed to be dramatic, but there's really only so much I can take. I usually end up getting literally, physically and mentally exhausted just from reading all of the drama and give up on the series xD

I don't know, I'm just weird I guess xD

I feel Vii! I'm much more into shounen too then other genders. Even if I read shoujo, seinen, josei.. I always end up loving much more shounen mangas! They enthrall me a lot. And my favorite titles always end to be of that gender! :)

However I've a special place in my heart for seinen as well! Even if more hard core, I love some titles that are totally out of the shounen ages due to their contents!

I can relate. Character development is also important to me especially for shonen mangas that have a lot of characters in them. :yay: And yes, different worlds and going through different time, dimension, I also have a weakness for series like those. And most of the time, I love the environment creations. :heh:

From looking at my favorite series over the years, I'd say I prefer shounen, shoujo and yaoi. I'm pretty easygoing, really, as long as I like the story. The one genre I don't care for is horror, but that goes for all media.

I've seen tons and tons of series from all sorts of genres, so I would say that anything goes provided that the characters and story are gripping enough, plus I'm in the mood for it. A lot of my nostalgic favorites are supernatural shounen, but every now and again an excellent slice-of-life really gets my attention.

I would say the only genre I sometimes love to hate is reverse harem, because for me it's so hit-or-miss. If you're going to give me a heroine that can only breathe irregularly and freak out all the time, back it up with some not-so-stereotypical guys or story. If you're going to give me a respectable female lead, then don't half ass it by teasing me with her strength only to have the guys completely undermine her anyway. Series that can balance all of this tend to be really special, hence why I felt I should mention it.

This x over 9000. Also, watching brothers in conflict might hit be harder than watching a romantic relationship that doesn't work out. I have three of them myself, so I guess it feels a lot closer to home when I watch brothers fight. It takes a lot of mental preparation to watch that, lol.

I like anything with explosions and Bad Things Happening. Also space dragons.

Is that a genre? It is now.

I'm pretty much open to anything that strikes my fancy. Most of the series I like are usually shounen, fantasy, comedy, and/or slice-of-life. I kind of like the mahou shoujo genre too. Oh, and the hammier the better!

I like sci-fi, well defined fantasy (yes magic spells, no random magic), adventure, action and of course, comedy.

I find that I don't have a favorite genre. I just read/watch whatever appeals to me mostly.

• Magical Girl
• Shoujo (mostly comedies)
• Anything involving monsters/cute creatures. Is there a genre for that?
