Ok, so I'm about to buy 3 domains for my choral society's website (the .com, .net, and .org of the address we want), just to make sure that buttholes don't register one of them out from under us.
Unfortunately, the only hosting our group can afford is A Small Orange's "Tiny" plan, which says it will only connect 1 domain. I want to make the .org the primary domain, but how do I redirect the .com and .net domains to the .org without them having to have hosting, too?
(...I really hope all that ^ made sense...LOL)
Domain Pointing Question (Warning, Noooooob)
Re: Domain Pointing Question (Warning, Noooooob)
It should have a field for Forwarding a domain or something close to that wording which will automatically redirect people to it.
I accept your challenge, "high prince", but I am no general.

Ok! And the forwarding doesn't require any hosting space, right?

Re: Domain Pointing Question (Warning, Noooooob)
Update: I bought all 3 domains and my hosting space...annnnd now I'm not really sure what to do. I used the 2 nameservers I was given from A Small Orange to point one of the domains to the hosting space, but when I started looking into URL forwarding, all the stuff I was reading on Namecheap says that I have to use their nameservers for that.
So can I just use the same 2 nameservers from A Small Orange for pointing the other 2 domains to the hosting plan, or...?
(Plus, when I signed up with Namecheap, there was a "domain redirect" option that showed up while I was buying, but I can't find it now. Are redirecting and URL forwarding the same thing?)
I don't even really comprehend what I'm asking, to be honest. Really REALLY hoping I didn't just royally screw up.

Forwarding shouldn't need hosting, no.
Follow the instructions that Namecheap has and it should work. You can contact their help if you want to make sure you do it correctly.

OK--will try that and see if it works the way I think it should. :)
