New article - first in the series of the Pokemon movie reviews... no, not the Mewtwo movie for a series of reasons explained in the article...
but the Lugia movie.

A lengthy one.

You really raise some great points here! I never even saw the 2000 Pokemon movie because I'd about gotten out of the fandom by that point, but I always wondered what I'd missed. Well, self, wonder no more! ROFL but seriously y'all have done awesomely summarizing AND analyzing!

Seriously though, there's not much more to show than the screenshots we put in, so you can consider it watched, lol

I'd seen this and meant to say something earlier but this is so cool -- I love the name and the headers. The points you've made about the stylization of it are things I've wondered about making a blog in the past, and it's awesome to be told that it can be done and then SHOWN how it's done :star: :heart: :blush:

ALSO I JUST STARTED POKEMON EMERALD ON A WHIM AND I AM UPSET AT THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR THAT DETERMINES THE FUTURE OF MY BELOVED WURMPLE :vein: :pale2:

Wurmple, break free of the bonds of the random number generator. Go forth and forge your own destiny. Fulfill your dreams and become what you truly desire to become!

@dubiousdisc and I have been pondering about genericizing the code behind Staircase Spirit and making it available so that you all could see what we are doing and use what we have learned to make your own blogs to scream along with us. :D

Allow us to clean some things up first, add more comments, and maybe finish implementing tags. ^^;

Heyy @dubiousdisc and @ritabuuk

I don't comment on the boards as often as I'd like, but I do visit Staircase Spirit pretty religiously lately to check for new articles. I think you guys have something really cool going on pretty much every way you look at it. The blog's design is simple and still breathtaking, I was really amazed and curious about how you guys style each page according to its article's subject. It's a super nice touch that shows just how much thought you guys put into every new article. :heart:

You also write really really well, I'm super jealous. One reason why I take 20 years to get anything up online is because I'm always worried and embarrassed of my writing. But I love reading your articles -- I even read the one about Skies of Arcadia despite having absolutely no previous knowledge of the game, and I still found the writing really engaging. I also had a great time reading the latest article, about the Lugia movie, because I remember watching it when I was a kid and thinking it was oh-so-amazing, without even realizing the mixed messages it carries :pale2: And the one about money, I found myself agreeing with every paragraph. Nowadays my stance on money in videogames is this: don't ever use it. It's a bit of a personal challenge mixed in with "I don't have time to be going through these shopping menus", but I also kinda like going through dungeons knowing full well that I'm seriously neglecting my party's equipment. It kind of makes me feel like "heck yeah, my weapons are busted, but my party's so strong I can still keep going". Of course, that only lasts until I get my ass handed to me, which always eventually happens. Still, I'd rather spend money on recovery items or inn fees or the cool but overpriced item that becomes useless super quick (like the special outfits in Persona 3 FES/Portable).

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you to keep up the cool work, and that I'm gonna keep checking Staircase Spirit often :star: :heh:

@high seraph omfg you're too nice help

BUT
PLEASE!
Don't be embarrassed by your writing! Everything I've ever read of yours is fucking amazing and what are you talking about?!

There is one thing that has been helping me to not think like that with this entire project and it is the fact that it's collaborative. When I write on my own, I'm also super down on myself and even when I'm happy with how something came out, there's always the shadow of BUT WHAT IF IT SUCKS AND I CAN'T TELL BECAUSE I SUCK. But with this, I can't think that, because we both wrote the article and I'd never think that of something that Denise wrote, so I can just be happy with how it came out and shut the fuck up. I wish I could think like that all the time, but >_>

Another thing that helps is that these articles are not really things that we sit down and really decide to write - they are spawned by conversations we're having where at some point we go, "why don't we write these points down". We take some really loose notes without any concern for writing good or anything like that, without any regard for typos or mismatched tenses or anything, and only later we refine them into the finished articles. But I think starting from the position of just taking shitty notes really helps. In the past, when I had to write anything for a fansite, it would be an endeavor of wanting the first draft to already be beautiful and shining and all coherent, and throwing that away has really helped in actually getting things done - and the final results end up being more lively and honest anyway. Maybe this approach will help you too. :D

HAHAHA YOU HAVE BEEN FREED FROM THE SHACKLES OF CAPITALISM
It's a matter of picking your poison: choosing not to upgrade and then dying miserably but proudly, or upgrading only to find the better weapon in a chest three seconds after the purchase and feeling terrible? XD

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR WONDERFUL COMMENT ;___;
