Hotarubi no Mori e

Post by Megan »

I randomly found a one-shot manga and OVA called Hotarubi no Mori e online, and I decided to check it out. It only took one play through of the 44 minute film to fall in love with it. I decided immediately that I needed to make something to it. I watched it two more times. One to take screen shots for my gallery section, and again to take better notes. I would recommend this to anyone on here! If you want me to post the link to where I watched it, feel free to ask and I would love to send it to anyone! It's beautiful! The manga is only one chapter as well~ My site is a big spoiler though, so please be careful reading!

I decided to call it Summertime Sadness because of the ending of the movie. I won't explain it just in case some of you want to go and watch it for yourself! The basics page and media/gallery will be fine, but stay away from the story page if you don't want to know everything that happens! Let me know what you guys think! I popped this site up pretty quickly - 2 weeks. But it was something that I was very motivated to work on! <3

So sweet! I love that even though it's a shorter film and manga, you made your shrine detailed and well-fleshed-out! :D

I read through this the other day and I'm not gonna lie, I cried. I completely enjoyed reading through it. :D

@Robin - Thank you so much! I worked really hard on giving it some spark and not to just make it a boring informational general site!

@Crystal - Thanks! I know, it's so sad... :( I cried writing it too! And I cried all of the times I've watched it! <3

It's wonderful to find little movies/ovas that you can instantly enjoy. This is such a bittersweet story and so symbolic. It's a lovely tribute.

Megan, it looks awesome! I don't know the subject at all, but I love that you tackled a small subject and was able to analyze as much as you did! There are some great short series and movies that I feel like shriners overlook because they assume there's not much content to pull from them.

Thank you, Todd! I was surprised by myself as well! But, I guess its true when they say you can't say enough about things you love (although its often hard to put it into words!) And that's also true! I think I am going to start working on things I was too afraid to because I felt like there wouldn't be enough content !

Thanks, Destinie! I can definitely send you a link that is high quality!! It's an awesome, yet small, OVA. Definitely a tear-jerker but its worth it!
