It's because nipples are viewed as hentai content. They're still there...invisible XD

That so creeps me out, though! Because it's a natural part of the human anatomy and, as one who studies and draws the human figure, nipples are kind of essential in creating the definition of the chest. Though this may not be the most appropriate place for lecture on nipple placement, I will say that the depth and weight of a chest can be conveyed with the size and placement of nipples.

*grumble*

Well now to find some hentai otome games so I can stop complaining loljustkiddingmaybenotyouneverknowright?

Trying to bring life back into this thread because I have some questions I want to poll you all on.

I'm working on an otome game and I've been playing some downloadable games to try and see what other people do and am creating a mental list of what not to do and, more importantly, what NOT to do.

I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on what makes a good otome game and what you like to see in them?

Right now I am working through "Sweet Scandal" and I just stopped because it got really boring. It leads up to the relationship with the guy and then sort of tapers off into this extra drama that I really don't care about. Also, I don't like the sort of male character that is super obsessed with the female character right away. It's kind of weird and creepy. So I'm also trying to work on designing characters with actual personalities.

I'm also playing through my Fairy Tales+ (or something) and I'm stuck on the game because I don't play it enough to get the items to pass the checkpoints. =_= So that's another thing I am NOT going to do in the game. People should be able to play through it without having to feel frustrated. Or create better options or incentives for people to want to continue to play or want to pay money for in-game items.

I also demand a compelling story! XD;

@Destinie I like when there is a good balance between the plot and romantic aspect of the game. Games that are too heavily romantic usually bores me pretty quickly because they all tend to follow the same pattern (and yeah the "suddenly the male character is obsessively in love with the female lead from the beginning" kind of makes me go "meh :/" too).

Another thing that frustrates me is how the female lead is usually pretty...bland? I understand she's supposed to be a stand-in for the gamer, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't have a personality of her own. Multiple choices during dialogues are fine since it's an otome game after all, but I think they should reflect aspects of her personality in any case.
For instance there are some games in which, when you are given a multiple-choice dialogue, you get wildly discordant options that go from the "super-polite" to the "wildly rude", and all I can think about when I encounter them is "wow, this is so freaking generic :/".

@Dragoneyes that is a really good point about the female lead in the game! And in the ones I was talking about above, she is more of her own person but you are kind of role playing or being her entirely. But I just think, "I cannot relate to this character. Either cut out her dialog or let me have my own voice!" This is something I have been thinking of how I am going to tackle in the game. Should I have her be completely silent and she only speaks through dialog options you select? Or do people rather read her feelings and expressions?

I also find that a lot of the dating options in otome games are straight-up abusive! I want to have the option as a player to call them out on it. When they get too weird or nasty I just have to stop playing the game. There's ALWAYS that guy who hates the lead and says mean things to her but no really he secretly loves her?? I hate that.
