LOL They might have recycled Power Rangers costumes! xD

A live-action Sailor Moon remake would be cool (esp. by Disney)...there's enough tiaras and sparklies for any Disney Princess movie fan. LOL

Who knows, they might have. I've heard a lot of sentai shows do that. XD

Disney has been improving with movies like Wreck it Ralph and Frozen lately, though I'll wait for the new Star Wars before deciding if I like them again or if those two were just exceptions. XD I'll stay hopeful for now.

I wish SMC would air more often, but there's good in the fact that it doesn't. I don't like subs (or reading in general) and too many episodes in a row would be too much to keep up with for my low sub tolerance. I started watching Star Driver months ago and only watch an episode every other week because I don't like subs.

Actually, I believe missdream.org has the entire live action series subbed and available for download. (They have the manga, too, and some of the musicals.)

So far SMC is, aside from a few minor changes, a fairly spot on adaptation of the manga. SMC has its faults, but it's a very different thing than the first anime, which only loosely told the story from the manga and was 90% filler (likely to keep up with the publication of the manga). So while it's possible to compare the two anime, I personally think it's better to look at the spirit of them: the first anime as a loose adaptation, SMC as a very tight retelling of the manga.

@Mikari I hear ya on subtitles--I can read subtitles okay because I'm used to running Closed Captioning on my TV at home, but it's weird to read one language and hear another at the same time, xD. (I have to use Closed Captioning, not because I'm hard of hearing, but because my brain is so ADD that it doesn't pay proper attention throughout an entire sentence...and whatever it didn't catch, it makes up something that kindasorta makes sense. Thus, CC lets me catch up on whatever I missed, LOL)

@Larissa Ah, okay, I see what you mean--definitely SMC feels faster-paced and tidier than the couple of original SM episodes I watched to compare. (Also, 10000% MORE SPARKLES...and SHINY MAKEUP!! xD)

It's plausible because Power Rangers used footage and costumes from Super Sentai, which was produced by Toei. The live-action Sailor Moon and the animated Sailor Moon series were produced by Toei too.

Ah, okay! I was wondering about the connection there, but knowing that the same studio had all those various shows makes beaucoups of sense :D

My first introduction to Sailor Moon was through the dub on TV in the 90's but after I found out about the manga, I became a bigger fan of that than the anime. It's a lot darker and more straight-forward than the 90's anime and I loved it for that. I also liked the characters more in the manga than the anime, even if the anime had a lot more time for development. The girls in the manga aren't nearly as boy crazy as they are in the anime (Rei doesn't even care, which is a huge departure from her anime counterpart). I still love the original anime but I always felt the manga was better.

So with that being said, I love Sailor Moon Crystal way more than the 90's anime because it's super faithful to the manga. I also think the character designs are beautiful and manage to capture the elegance of Naoko-san's artwork.

I think the biggest "bad" thing about SMC is that there are a lot of animation errors. Like... wow. Some of the characters look outright deformed in some shots. No one should ever see Mars melting like a hershey kiss. T_T Thank goodness the errors are corrected in the bluray releases!! @_@ If you guys haven't seen it yet, check out Crystal Comparisons. They post before and after screenshots of the broadcast and bluray releases. Some of it's pretty funny. XD;;

I was very skeptical when I first heared of SMC but I must say, I really enjoyed it from the beginning as it is very close to the manga that is, like wolfrun already said, a lot darker and more straight-forward than the original anime. I also like the original anime (I'm a moonie since 1995 and that will never change xD) but I like the more grown-up theme of the manga and hence SMC. But I thought the character design was really weird when I first saw it, but mainly because everything and everyone looked totally different from what we've know for 20 years. I'm now used to it but I agree on the animation errors. Though, I now think I've missed the melting Mars?! o_O Which episode what that, do you still remember, wolfun? xD Maybe I should check out the site you've linked :content: . I actually like the look of season 3 now a little better than the previous style, now it looks more soft :ok: .

http://crystalcomparisons.com/act4/ I BRING YOU MELTING MARS. It's a bit further down when she's actually Sailor Mars, not Hino Rei. :d

You should definitely check the site out! The first 4 episodes aren't done in the mouse-over style that the later episodes are done in but it's pretty fascinating to see how different the bluray releases look. XD

I'm also pretty happy with season 3 too! The animation looks a lot different... the younger characters have much rounder eyes, there's a bit more humor and the transformation sequences are the same as the old 90's anime. I'm not sure how I feel about that since I feel that there are a lot of animation errors in them... like really warped looking arms and legs. :/ And Mamoru and Haruka's hair looks very strange in profile view.

I plan on taking a million screenshots for my Haruka/Michiru shrine but I'm gonna wait until the blurays are out for more animation corrections. Though I worry about the transformation sequences... those are usually done right the first time around cuz they're re-used frequently. :x I generally really like the new look and there are a lot fewer animation screw ups overall! <3 Michiru looks GORGEOUS. It's unreal!!
