Thanks for the link! Huh I didn't know that about the .sucks.

My advice on the matter would be to not be too scared about availability - you can easily and painlessly look up if the names you were thinking of are available on any tld you're interested in.

The real downside of the new tlds, as far as I can see, is that they might not sound "legit" enough at this point, so if you're building something like, say, your portfolio onto a rare new tld, and then give away your business cards with this strange url, some people might not even recognize that as a valid url and be like, "so where's your website...?". I can see that causing problems for some.

Thank you, Dubiousdisc! You are right! I even did not think that further with business cards... have to be careful. Thanks for the suggestion.

There's a new domain registrar on the block!

Google!

Yes! You can now buy a domain name through Google and get a custom email through the G Suite service (basically Gmail for business). Also they have Whois privacy for free, which is nice if, like me, you don't want your real name and address easily found through your fandom domain...

Details are here, including a list of supported TLD and how much they cost.

I have not tried this service, as I am happy with my Canadian registrar, but for my American friends and members of Amassment, this could be interesting to look at!

OOOH NICE! I know that a lot of companies are able to do this so I guess they recently opened it up to public purchasing?

Yep, it's in beta right now! Found it during my search for hosting for my blogs.

I might just as soon as I move some funds around! It's either floozy.nu or drea.nu right now. The latter allows more freedom for me in a way, but with floozy I can opera.floozy.nu and giggle for days.

@Drea Oh wow, both would be great, but yeah, floozy.nu is too funny...
