The layout is gorgeous! I really like what you did with the texture and the colors, they look great with the picture you have. Also the navigation is really nice!
Also don't worry about plugging your stuff. Plug all that you want!
I don't see any problem with the design, the only thing that I would suggest is maybe: with the hover effect of the pictures that lead to your sections, instead of making it have a dotted underline, I'd make the border itself change color to dark blue, like the navigation does. Just for consistency. But if that doesn't look good, the underline is fine too.
