Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!

@Megan, thank you! I am into a lot of obscure games etc hahaha, and I figured I'd have to shrine something among my obscure tastes, so I was like "heck why not shrine the most obscure character in the most obscure game I've ever played". Thus, SPON was born. Maybe if we all shared our obscure tastes more, they wouldn't be so obscure u kno. :music2:

@Robin, I'm glad you enjoyed the site haha, it was really fun to work on! Lisa has a lot of quirky characters like Horrace, and, yes, poor Horrace lmao :swt2:

As for the problems while browsing in mobile, the biggest one in my opinion occurs with the synopsis of the games, because the div on the right overlaps the div on the left instead of behaving responsively. I think if I wanted to code this part of the site again today, I could probably get it to fit smaller viewports properly, but that part of the shrine is clunky by nature (i mean, look at that wonky animation hahaha :worry: ). I reckon that the font size is also pretty small, and, since coding SPON, I've started incorporating media queries and using em for font-size instead of px, which works infinitely better.

@Lethe, heyoo!!!~ :content: hahaha yeah, I should make shrines faster. Thank u for the compliments on the writing! I really tried to embody the mood of the Lisa games, which are always ironic and comedic and over the top, and I'm glad it worked.

To be 100% fair, I don't actually know what the site looks on a normal cellphone, because mine has a rather large screen haha. I need to look for one of those tools that show you how the site looks on several different viewports and start comparing lmao. Thanks a lot for your comments! I hope to be able to put up a few more shrines in the near future

@Megan A oh my god those collapsible divs gave me such a workout until I finally figured out how Bootstrap accordions actually worked lmao. I can't really remember whether I managed to use the standard Bootstrap accordion setup or if I had to modify it a little, but I'm glad it's functional. Thanks a lot for your comments on the layout and writing as well! :content:

Yeah, one of my concerns, since I was shrining a pretty obscure subject, was to make it as beginner-friendly as possible without making the shrine more about the game than the character. I'm glad that I've succeeded in doing that!!!

Thanks again for the feedback everyone! It makes me really happy to know you guys had fun reading my silly little tribute to Horrace, and I'm sorry if my replies sound a bit ranty!!!! I'm actually really excited about learning responsive design so I get kind of carried away when talking about it!!!! orz :swt2:

I'm not familiar with the character but I love the design!! I've been trying to familiarize myself with Bootstrap and I think you did an amazing job! Most of the time I'm like, "y do u do dis bootstrap" lol. I checked it out on my S7 and it looks great :) For some reason the bottom links and icons (Storyteller, Amassment, Back to top?) overlap just a tiny bit (like ~3 pixels) but they're totally functional. It may just be my screen size though! Or Chrome being Chrome.

Horrace's grandpa is mean :( I feel a little bad for the guy!

@melzillah, thank you!!!! Yeah, it's really hard to keep the "think mobile first" mantra in mind when you find yourself lost in five divs in and screaming at Bootstrap lmao. Thank you for warning me about the bottom links too! I didn't know they were overlapping; it looked fine on all screen resolutions I have access to, but it's totally possible hahah :swt2:

Horrace's grandpa really is mean lmao!!!

Hi Lucas! I read through your shrine and it's really interesting! I don't know anything about the topic but I thought that you explained it really well. The games seem interesting and I liked how you made a shrine to this minor character! I am intrigued by what made you gravitate to him!

Also, kudos on a lot of the design and effects. I really loved what you did for the summary of each game. It's very subtle but I thought it was a great way to include that information! :D

Oh, I've had a lot of friends talking about this series and recommending it! I'm hoping to pick it up in a Steam sale soon. I love how you've laid out this site - especially for a one pager, which I always find difficult make look good. And it's such a fun read. Great work. :)

Hi Destinie!!! Thank you for taking the time to read through the site! :swt2: You know, I actually wanted to talk about what made me consider building a shrine to Horrace in the first place.

When I played the game, tbh there were so many characters I loved. But then I saw this post on reddit which said something like "who's your favorite character and why is it Horrace Finkel?", followed by agreeing comments. I didn't remember who Horrace Finkel was immediately, but after I connected the name to the person I was like-- yes. This is the best character in Lisa. I'm not even being ironic about it.

(I'm actually being ironic about it. Or at least that's what I tell myself.)

I absolutely recommend it!!! The game has a really smart, kind of twisted sense of humor, its characters are always enjoyable and the battle system is pretty impressive, for such a small game. I like to describe Lisa as a grown up version of Earthbound, with Super Mario Bros.-esque level design and old-school Final Fantasy gameplay -- which are some of my favorite things.

And thank you for your comments Emma! I'm glad you enjoyed the shrine :content:
