Walt Disney Animated Features

Post by Destinie »

I've been seeing a lot of Disney oriented shrines popping up and it's been all over my twitter feed so I thought I'd start a thread for it here. ;)

What are your favorites? What are you looking forward to? What do you miss? Talk about all things Disney! ♥

I was thinking about my Top favorite Disney movies and it is really hard to pick just a few that are my *absolute* favorites. But I think I have my top 3:

1) Bambi
2) Emperor's New Groove
3) Peter Pan (Close tie with Aladdin but as I got older I really liked Peter Pan more...)

Honorable Mentions:

Aristocats (Because cats)
The Jungle Book
Robin Hood
Beauty and the Beast (I really like the music in this one)
Aladdin
The Lion King (Obligatory. Classic)
Mulan
Tarzan
Princess and the Frog (Tiana ties with Mulan for favorite Disney Princess)
Bolt (THIS MOVIE IS SO CUTE IT MAKES ME CRY PLUS THOSE PIGEONS)
Wreck-it-Ralph

I'm sure I'm missing some. I realized that I'm missing a ton of movies that I seriously need to purchase.

I was thinking that I would like to participate in the non-royal Disney Marathon Cherri is doing and I was like "I want to do Kuzco!" and then I was like "...wait he's a Prince derp..."

I love Wreck-it-Ralph :D Frozen is another awesome one, those two are my top faves. My favorite as a child was Aladdin. I also really enjoyed The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. Two other classics that come to mind are Mulan and Beauty and the Beast and of course Aristocats, though I enjoyed Aristocats for the kitty cuteness and you could take away the plot and everything else without changing how I view it. Aladdin was my favorite animated Disney series growing up. I also liked Rescue Ranger and Little Mermaid.

Yes, Wreck-it-Ralph is great! I actually really loved the fact that they made this movie about an antagonist that shows you can't have a hero without having the villain who plays an equally important role! (So deep.) And all the characters are so good. *u*

Just looking at my DVD collection:

#1: Beauty and the Beast (fav couple, fav chars, will be making a shrine at some point, perhaps later this year or in 2016 ^o^)

#2: The Little Mermaid (I walked around the house singing her shell-necklace melody for like a year after seeing the movie, if that gives you any idea of my fandom)

#3: Robin Hood (LADY KLUCK IS SO BADASS!! \m/ she needs a shrine like yesterday and I will make one!!)

#4: Mary Poppins (I believe this counts as a Disney movie, at least--it ought to! I can wax poetic about the various political/social messages in it <3)

#5: Sword in the Stone (SO MUCH LOL at the changing into animals scenes. Also, I need Merlin's carpetbag to pack and move stuff. And I have "girl chipmunk" feels. :') )

@DubiousDisc (and Robin) I am not sure how I didn't give your #1 and #2 honorable mentions because I love them, too!! I remember being a kid and seeing Merlin and Excalibur at Disney World and he is not there anymore and I was so SAD! :(( Plus Archemedes is just wonderful.

@Robin I guess Mary Poppins partially counts as an animated film because it does have some animation in it? Maybe we should make a thread for live-action features. The Walt Disney Company has their hands in a lot of things. ;P Speaking of Mary Poppins, a couple months ago we watched "Saving Mr. Banks" and then I had to read the book and then watch Mary Poppins. I was on a bit of a Mrs. P kick for a while there. Disney's version is so different from P.L Travers' original character.

And I would love to see a Lady Kluck site omg!

@Destinie YES, I will definitely make a Lady Kluck site. The friggin' football scene, I am dead of laughing. xD

Also, I completely derped last night and didn't realize this was an ANIMATED film thread. But like you said, there are certain parts of it with animation so it kiiiiiiiiinda counts. ^_^;

Hehehe ^O^ Yeah! I mean, we do have a couple other threads going for general animated films but I saw the influx of Disney-specific shrines so I thought it would be good to have a thread about them.

And this could be any animated features including their direct-to-dvd stuff and sequels. Speaking of which, I heard yesterday there is now a Frozen 2 in the works...

This is a hard decision because I love almost all of them. I think my favorite is Tangled, followed by Hunchback of Notre Dame, and then Beauty and the Beast.

My honorable mentions because I watch these a ton: Aladdin (nearly tied with Beauty and the Beast), Pocahontas, Fox & the Hound, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and then finally Bolt!
